OUR MISSION & VISION
Help people identify and overcome barriers
Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. envisions people living lives of self-determination and financial viability through behavioral and physical wellness, education, workforce development, and affordable housing.
It is the mission of Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. (CRR) to help people identify and overcome their barriers to achieve a stable life. CRR breaks barriers for people experiencing substance abuse, underemployment, and housing instability, with focused services for youth, Veterans, people with disabilities, and those referred from the criminal justice system.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
What makes Career and Recovery different is the four main areas we remain committed to providing the highest level of service for Houstonians. And since 1945, our focus on these core areas and methodology has given us the ability to help everyone who walks through our doors.
OUR APPROACH
While some clients receive a single, one-time service (such as our youth career education outreach presentations), other clients receive in-depth drug treatment counseling services that typically last over three months in length and involve more than 50 hours of group and individual counseling.
Our four core programs address issues job seekers have with significant or multiple barriers to employment. Some barriers are bigger than others, but being aware of the ones that are blocking progress in our clients’ lives is an important step in overcoming them. Barriers can include, but are not limited to:
- Age
- Disabilities
- Criminal Record
- Domestic Violence
- Drug and/or Alcohol Abuse
- Lack of Education
- Housing Issues or Homelessness
- Ineffective Job Search Skills
- Limited English/Spanish Proficiency
- Long-term Welfare Recipient
- Mental Illness
- Gaps in Employment
- Lack of Self-Confidence/Low Self-Esteem
- Not Understanding Modern Recruitment Practices
- Inability to Identify Transferable Skills
WHAT WE OFFER
We provide an array of support activities such as workforce development, general education, counseling, case management, job readiness services, and disaster relief assistance.
In addition to the above activities, our agency offers a variety of employment-related support services such as enrichment classes including GED exam preparation, and American Sign Language (ASL) for persons who are deaf or hearing-impaired.
We aim to educate clients on the various soft skills needed in acquiring and maintaining a job and assist with acquiring employment. To that end, we partner with vocational schools, trade schools, colleges, and community colleges to help educate our clients while providing them an opportunity to gain a skill or trade.
Our main population demographics include those disadvantaged by homelessness, disabilities, older age, ex-offender status, returning veteran status, substance abuse disorder, and those with other significant barriers to employment.
CRR leaders and staff see job placement as the most creative and permanent way for individuals to remain intact and to stay away from a cycle of poverty for themselves and their families.
Help us in our mission to break bariers and empower lives, one person at a time
